MANUAL FOR WRITEPHROM (BBC BASIC) This file describes the program WRITEPHROM which erases and reprograms the image on the TMS6100 emulator. It is suitable only for machines which have the appropriate hardware upgrade, and will have no operation on a real mask programmed TMS6100 which is read only. The manual and software is (C)2005 SPROW INSTRUCTIONS- At the BASIC prompt, type CHAIN"WRPHROM" The program will ask which phrom to work on, as up to 16 may be wired in at once, and which replacement image is to be used. Refer to the speech system user guide to find out which one you're trying for. The contents of the ROM will then be erased, which takes approximately 3s, after which the designated replacement image will be transferred to the phrom. When programming is done there is no need to reset the machine, the new image will be immediately ready for use. The image may include speech data alone, or ROM filing system data (or a mixture of both if space permits), and will be preserved over a power down.
